Graphic design makes you focus on every single detail around you. Photographing the small details that, without a camera, your eyes would not spot and capture; is the secret to a successful photographer.

Graphic design and Photography do go hand-in-hand. Composition, layout, and color are all principles that apply to both fields, yet applied through different mediums.

Photography is only an image or picture captured by a camera.

Graphic design is much more. It must at least be a camera image that has been modified by the graphic craft of an image or that has been created entirely by graphic craft or a mixture of both.

Both genres can be used to tell a story or carry a message. The graphically crafted image can be made to suit exact display needs, whereas the camera might have limitations in this field.

A camera, on the other hand, has the ability to create more real true life like images.

The main subject and focal point of most designs is a photograph or a combination of photographs.

Hi,

I would say, Photography is interrelated to Graphic Design. They compliment each other. A photo itself is a graphic element. Using design tool/techniques a photograph is used to beautify a design or convey a message to the target audience.

In my opinion, there is a mutual relation. Both skills need the latest software and hardware to create visual arts. Graphics design sometimes need the help or uses photography to enhance the design. Same with photography, one good example if your shooting a particular subject/model and you need a backdrop or background instead of putting everything/objects from scratch, do it on your graphic softwares of your choice (PSD, AI or other 3D softwares), have it printed in your prefered sizes, on tarp, set it up on the back of your subject. whoala! you have an instant background. its faster & less expensive (no carpentry & paint job needed). In-short you need both skills as a designer or artist. By combining both skills you will achieve more out of it. Imagination is your limit.

Yes, photography and design are separate they do share some of the same artistic rules, and learning more about photographic composition can also help you with graphic design.
