I am trying to purse an oil and gas industry works like drilling technology etc., but I don't have experiences on it because most of my works were on steel companies and was based on maintenance. This ended me up being rejected whenever I apply for Oil and gas. Any suggestions???
Right now there are too many Oil & Gas workers looking for too few available jobs, that is a major reason for rejection.
I remember back in 1980 when I first moved into Oil & Gas, I was told by the recruiter at interview, "But you done have any experience overseas and you don’t have O&G experience", at that time they were really looking for workers it was a worker’s market, so I said "I know what I can do, if you give me the chance I will show you what I can do. How can anyone get the experience if you don’t give them the chance to get experience", in the end if they don’t give young people the chance to get the experience, then all the experience people will die off and they will end up with no one to pass on their knowledge and no experienced people left in the world. Then what will they do???
Keep up to date with all the current trends in O&G, read all the books and articles you can, so you can answer any questions asked, and do your best to get to interview, remain confident and sure of your abilities.

Generally speaking you should have experience in such field to be treated as professional / skilled personal , unless you are applying for apprenticeship or fresh graduate career. In the matter of fact Oil & Gas system is unique and has its particulars therefore No one can recove this career challenges utmost at all disciplines of this industry .
but if you were meaning me by this question , then I can tell you that I have previously received my technical training in Oil & Gas , even I was borne in such environment (e.g. Kuwait oil Company K.O.C.) for very long time living within the life style of such work environment , during my father work journey in this company .
Hence, I believe that Oil & Gas vocabularies & its contractual literacy & its growing technical development & its mobilized location hardship, beside its life system particularities are all a major elements that distinguish our relationship with this industry .
