Thanks

Yes, sometimes position for mid level  requires something like that, for example UN agencies request; three years experience in similar field with Master degree from well known university, or five years experience in similar filed with BA degree from well known university.

I weigh the experience, previous achievements, leadership skills, his mentoring and coaching techniques and how the candidate moved forward with his career. I believe in the 10:20:70 learning and development model. The candidate career advancement  and job achievements are more important than what the candidate studies. Such candidate is not a fresh graduate that I need to make sure of the information and theoretical study to build on, a mid level candidate passed this stage already

Degree from a well-known university may not be given an additional weightage as per me,  can give importance only in the initial entry level.For experienced professionals concentrate on the skills, knowledge and attitude.

  • Usually for mid-level positions, equal weightage must be given to both the prior experience as well as education credentials;

  • If any particular role demands higher education, then the weightage must follow: ratio (University Education:Experience)

Of course, well known universities are selective on their acceptance, which gives an impression that this person presented a higher quality material that lead to their acceptance.

For me, it can be but not necessary because there are lot of smart and hard working people who did not got the privilege of studying on well known/high rank universities due to poverty.  We can say that there are scholarships but if the person needs to work at the young age then it still won't fit for them.

Well, In today's world of Equal employment opportunity compliances does matter. To avoid such biasedness candidate should be considered on the basis of skills and expertise, not on the basis of race, gender, or ethnicity etc simple is that. (Otherwise, you will be answerable to state law and different countries or regions has different state law).
