What type of communication is more effective in team-meetings? formal or informal?

Well

It depends on type of meetings

  • If the meeting hold as a daily - weekly meeting between Team leader and his-her crew, then both of manners can be applied.
  • If meeting above was held in presence of Department manager or CEO, COO, or on of Top management, then formal language should be applied.
  • If the meeting was held under chairmanship of Organization manager or on of top management board, then it should be formal.

Both type formal and informal communication can be used depend on the context and participant. Although both formal and informal communication can be used, the formal language can better convey the message as it is well understood by the majority

Formal communication

Informal communication

But in a team meeting, formal communication is more effective than informal communication

Formal or Informal is not a matter. The way we present should be understandable in the meeting.

Formal Language Is Always Useful And Respectable 

Formal communication is better when it comes to buisness, were orders or informations come from top to bottom and it contain sanctional results when its not applied. When it comes to non-buisness chat between workers with same rank in a company  to cool it up from work stress or when a team leader is setting for daily or weekly meetings where workers can discuss some ideas, here informal communication is acceptable.

Formal communication while you are communicating a difficult message and also while putting forward a strategy.

Informal communication is more preferred while communicating a good news, an achievement and results.
