Advanced features such as subtotals, power pivot tables and pivot charts, analysis toolkit, and many templates make it easy to accomplish a wide range of tasks however access needs greater expertise to handle with the data.

Access is a tool that is used basically to mange databases where excel is used to analyse data. It depends though on the size of your data. If your database is too large you need more powerfull tools.

access is a storage engine basically, it is not designed for analysis purpose, excel, if your data size is small, is a good tool. But for large data it will stuck and you will not able to perform any task. I have used power bi which is very handy and smooth for analysis, but for it you need a good skills for data modeling and some knowledge of DAX programming.
