from my side i will recommend you the Microsoft Azure which is powerful environment to analyse the big data and it is very easy to use as a lay man.  

The important question is not what tools are available but what is your background, or what path you take.

 

Necessary background is advanced statistics, knowing a programming language used in Data Science & Analytics (R & Python are the most popular & powerful so far) and command line skills.

 

As for tools, there are a huge number of these:

Programming language: R or Python (also SAS, SPSS, Excel)

Big data tools include: Hadoop, Mapreduce

 

PS: What matters most is not the tools rather the quality of the data, what you want to do with it, and how to wrangle it (ie; clean & tidy it) before using it.

I think big database ERP is very very good

There are various tools available for data analysis, for simple analysis we can use SPC tools (Frequency chart, histogram, pie chart) etc and Analysis of variance, hypothesis, probability.etc All these can be evaluated through MS-Excel, Minitab, Statistica, SPSS
