tradditional reason and for protection

it is due to their norms and values which the dominated part of the society fixed for every one as being men and women, so women and men have to perform their roles and value, but if they go against them they are termed as deviant and punished by the society as Saudi society is the most conservative society of the world. it is also due to the hegemonic masculinity as men consider that it will suffer our masculinity. according to gramsci  the domination is maintained and sustained by propagating own belief and ideas, in order to realize the public that is true and fact, and it is done by the consent of the people. so the case here is that the saudi culture realize and legitimize that women are incapable to drive as its only the role of man.

most people believe it will lead to a magnificent  increase in the number of harassment

In Saudi Arabia, women are protected beyond the norm and their culture suggests that women should be given preferential treatment by being treated as pearls. Thus they are free from everyday pressures.

Firstly,it is vital to note that Saudi Arabia as a country has  firm islamic norms and values which interchangeably work the culture of the land. In order to maintain  the absolutnes of these norms and values, there seems to be some exceptions for women which forbid them driving cars, allowing only their male counterparts. But, recently such ban has been lifted. Secondly, it could be to protect them from being exposed to other negative vices detrimental to the culture of the land and keeping them cool-headed to their husbands and family from ostentious lifestyle. Most times some women can go out control if allowed access to certain things!
