By empowering them to take take a measured actions that they are authorized, also remind them that they are accountable for it so not to worry to any blind finger pointing blaming 

A manager has to ensure that there is always a two-way feedback process in place where both the employee and the manager are empowered to express themselves in a safe manner - therefore ensuring communication is encouraged.

Providing an open door policy so that the employee can access the manager when required.

By both the manager and the employee have clearly defined roles

Where the manager is supportive and open to developing the skills and career progression of his/her staff.

The manager must create and uphold a fair working environment for his team. He shall also monitor their contributions to the project and be generous with showing appreciation for each team member's or collective achievements but when someone underachieve or makes a mistake, he should be given a fair assessment before any reprimand is given. A punishment shall only be prescribed only after a thorough investigation has been carried out to obtain clear proof that negligence or pure negative intent is evident. A manager should also be seen by his team that he is a man who is honest, knowledgeable, skillful and someone who walks the talk.
