No, if your products isn't great, customers will not be able to remember it after a while. so word of mouth you say has very less possibility to spread.

At some level yes.....but will not work in the long run

Word of mouth is one of the essential ways of marketing. People feel more confident in pursuing a service or trying a product after hearing from others about their experience with it. I create positive word of mouth by paying particular attention to every transaction and offer the service and advice beyond the customer's expectation and follow up with the customer to make sure that require has been satisfied.
