What do you think will be the biggest content marketing trends in 2017?

I have been scouring the various blogs for this question and since i do not have concrete response to this, i'll be following this question avidly!!

Live streaming will be 2017 trend as it has started to grow in popularity, and it will only continue to grow in 2017. Facebook Live, Youtube Live, and Snapchat all offer easy to use platforms to host events, product launches, tours, etc. Essentially more content for consumers.

Content Marketing in 2017 is expected to be far more challenging than it is today due to the increasing crowd in this space.

In my opinion the likely trends in CM are;

  • Mobile, Mobile Mobile: The number people accessing the internet via Smart phone have surpassed the desktop users (i think in late 2014). and this trend does not apply only to developed countries but even in many developing countries. So content MUST be MOBILE compatible.
  • Video is the Queen: Customer is King and Video is the Queen. Youtube video views have exceeded the number of  google search in most countries. Most social platforms are optimizing feed to enhance the video experience of the users (FB, snapchat, whatsapp etc.). Visual content marketing is growing at an unprecedented rate.  I would also like to add, VR contents are on rise too. VR seems all set for take-off.
  • Content to be more Niche and segmented : with millions of content being posted, why should the customer view/read yours? hence only brushing of the dust on the surface will not help much- create a niche and RETAIN your customer base.   by segmenting customers into smaller groups you will be able to resonate better.
  • Constant interaction/engagement will be vital: Content marketing have attracted marketer like bee to honey due to how efficiently one can acquire new audience but keeping them engaged and coming back will be most vital.  Brands will need to be creative and innovative with their contents and formats.
  • Native Advertisements: Push ads will fade-out very fast as there is a general dislike and aversion towards it. however ads and advertising will never go away but evolve from one form to another.
