In a simple word Support services are those function of organization which does not generate main business. Support services provide internal support to the main business of organization. Generally HR, Finance, Logistics, Admin and IT are the support services and club together.

Support services are intended to support the productive staff of the operation. Take for instance in my last manager role. The productive employees were the service advisors and the technicians. Support staff included file room clerk, runners, porters, drivers and the cashier.
