I think the first course of action should be reaching out to tech support first, then you monitor your account and see if false information is being released; defamatory or not you take note and reach out to local law enforcement and file a defamation/slander or blackmail case. Finding the hacker is hard since he is most likely using false IP addresses therefore, involvement of law enforcement is essential; just make sure you have enough evidence to back up your lawsuit; on which you will get advise from either lawyers or law enforcers.

Hacking the facebook account of anyone means an ingrigement which is a crime according to the law.In this case you have either to inform the nearest police station immediately or you can file a criminal case in the nearest public prosection office to you. Either you filed a complaint in the police station or filed a criminal case in the public prosecution , the file after investigation will be send to the court where you could also ask for compensation for damage hppened to you from this bad infringement.

Whenever someone brings suit against another, they are seeking damages. If you do not have any substantiated damages, there is no basis for the claim.Concerning criminal charges being brought against the person, you would have to provide necessary proof that your personal identity has been threatened by that person, or file stalker/harassment charges on them.If you have enough proof then you can involve the police.
