Sometimes projects are hampered or run late due to certain project management processes that doesn't quite fit the requirement of the project. The basics of PM cannot be worked around, but some processes need to fit the project. E.g. what would you apply in a IT roll-out project as opposed to refurbishing and oil rig? You can insert your own industry as well as opposed to another that you had exposure to.
PRINCE2 is a best practice which focusses process for delivering a project within the given constraint unlike PMBOK whose focus is more on PM himself. If anyone who has read or undergone training on PRINCE2 would agree that it can be tailored to fit any industy or project. I don't have mich idea about SCRUM, so wont comment on it. But adopting & tailoring PRINCE2 is in its true spirit can see that the project delivers the product/service or result desired.
all of them be create a management mentality , and environment for project management , but definitely not tools , you should use software technic such as PROGECT MANGEMNT Software
I agree with "Erika Southey" Every company has its own project management procedure adapted to suit their line of business, objectives and how to achieve them.
Though PMBOK is generally accepted as generic procedure and techniques to successfully complete a project Prince2 and Agile Scrum are more suitable for service deliver project and intangible commodities i.e. software and IT projects. If project is construction or product development PMBOK will fit much better than SCRUM and Prince2, and when project is software that tended to be dynamic in terms of specs and requirement Agile is more suitable than Prince2. It is the call of which industry and then there are more details about the nature of the project that will decide which road to pick.
