Concrete has a good resistance to compression loads and its tension resistance are small and can be neglected.Slabs are horizontal shell elements mainly subjected to bending moments, In the tension zone of bending moments we put steel Rft. to resist it.We also use steel Rft. in the compression zone to enhance creep, shrinkage, ductility phenomena.
