You can be creative when you come up with new ideas for specific problems or questions. If your ideas are applied in a way that makes sense in context and have results in addition to their novelty, then you came up with an innovation.

Creativity can be about anything, from looking at issues from a different point of views, expressing yourself in a new way or asking unusual questions to target specific or broad aspects of your challenge, something that others may have already missed. You can be creative with the process of linking your challenge with another from a completely different industry and finding ways to relate.

When your creative ideas are applied in the physical world (a process that you go through, a product that you can utilize your new point of view or a service that addresses unmet needs or unspoken of, then you are innovating.

hope that helps.
