It seems as if people are leaving, however I am sure this is not ONLY the job situation.  People tend to live  above their means wherever they are.  In UAE we all have a rather high standard of living and take advantage of that .... large villa, new cars, fancy toys, lots of outside entertainment..etc.  I have been in UAE since 1999, stuck it out during the "crash" and am still here - for now.  People will leave, but if you want to stay, watch your spending, step down your standard of lifestyle, I'm sure it will still be better than in most of out home countries, and things will move back up in time.  More people leaving, means those who stay will have the opportunity.  If your job suddenly disappears, prepare to have a minimum 3 months living funds to keep afloat.
