Hi Team,

It’s important to have an efficient method of communication in place between supervisors/managers and employees. Employees should feel that they can ask any questions they have and receive guidance whenever they may need it. Employees who feel they have a strong support system and a good understanding of what they have to do are more likely to be confident and productive when completing tasks.

To give you greater variety while optimizing your manufacturing process you must:

- reduce machine setup time;

- reduce the size of the batches;

- bring the workstations closer.

By reducing the start-up time by 50%, you can reduce your batches by 50% and therefore produce two (2) different products instead of one (1) alone, and in the same amount of time used. In the end, your finished product inventories will be reduced and your product turnover will be faster. You can make more regular products that sell well and others will stay less in your warehouses.

I have personally been very glad with the "NOTEBOOK APPROACH", A Phenomenon that we tend to forget in this age of too many devices. Here is how we can increase productivity, focus, and improve the overall performance of employees:

  1. Promote your team members to use a paper notebook, and list down all activities that s/he is expected to perform on a given day.
  2. Rate the activities with a defined timeline, and an able rating factor (depending on how urgent that task is, and the approx date of completion).
  3. Be focused on the activity, and ensure to mark it with a TICK once the activity is over.
  4. Repeat the same, for all activities mentioned! Voila! If one is able to complete 90% of these activities on a given date, depending on the severities - that's one of the best days ever.
  5. On the next day, ensure that the activities that weren't completed the preceding date bears the maximum priority; thereby ensuring that it's completed on time.

Using this technique, we have administered an approximate increase in productivity by about 85-88% in the last 4-5 years!
