It is one of the channel allocation schemes in wireless and cellular networks, in which the voice channels are not allocated to the cell permanently. For every call, the base station requests a channel from MSC.

In our wireless metropolitan area network we use static channels since dynamic channels have proven to cause interference in radio with strong signals needed for clients far from the basestation and near but can't see a near by basestation (point of presence).

Though we use synamic channels in out indoor wifi and allow the wireless managing software allocate the channels since interference would have a lighter impact on a pc or two compared to a school or a health clinic.

This paper describes how blocking probability can be reduced using wideband technology and a multi-algorithm dynamic channel allocation mechanism in the first implemented digital cellular network. Using digital filters, signal selectivity is much better than with currently existing analog filters. For this reason frequency reuse is improved and more calls on be handled in the network at a time. Another possibility to reduce blocking probability is to use a multi-algorithm dynamic channel allocation mechanism. It includes several channel allocation algorithms implemented at the same time in the switch of a cellular network. The algorithms are selected so that each one of them provides a significant performance advantage in comparison to the others under the given traffic and interference conditions. An algorithm becomes active in the network when the actual measured offered load and interference conditions indicate that this algorithm would provide the best performance in comparison to the other algorithms implemented in the switch. The algorithm becomes passive when the traffic and interference conditions change so that another algorithm is expected to provide better performance

In DCA schemes, all channels are kept in a central pool and are assigned dynamically to new calls as they arrive in the system

Wherever there is shortage of channels ( static channel), we go for dynamic channels allocation to avoid dropping or cut outs..
