firstly we will discuss hub that is almost obsolete in today's world it is the extension to collision domain that means that it sends every packet to every port of it and its is not intelligent at all. While switch is the intelligent device and also works on the layer 2 and sometimes layer 3 of OSI reference model. Switch is design for breaking up the collision domain scenario it makes every port as a separate collision domain. Now router are exclusively layer 3 devices and they basically provide paths and communicates two different networks .

switch , hub and router are networking devices ..

switch connects different devices within a lan to communicate its a single broacast domain while single collision domain for every individual device .

hub is a non intelligent device its a single collision and broadcast domain for all devices connected to it ..

router provides us to communicate between devices on different networks

Hubs and repeaters serves as an extension to the collision and broadcasting domain. its an odd technology now and no longer used in today's scenario.

Switches ,bridges and routers breaks up the collision domain. Each port of a switch is a separate collison domain. Switches operate at the data link layer (layer 2) and sometimes the network layer (layer 3) of the OSI Reference Model.

Routers are used to merge 2 networks into 1 and allow you to communicate with both of them at the same time.

collison domain is a scenario where when one device sends a packet all the other devices are forced to listen to it.

Hubs and repeaters serves as an extension to the collision and broadcasting domain.

Switches ,bridges and routers breaks up the collision domain. Each port of a switch is a separate collison domain

Routers and switches using VLAN breaks up broadcast domain. Each port on a router is a seperate braodcast and collison domain

Router

A device that forwards data packets along networks. A router is connected to at least two networks.

Switch

In networks, a device that filters and forwards packets between LAN segments. Switches operate at the data link layer (layer 2) and sometimes the network layer (layer 3) of the OSI Reference Model and therefore support any packet protocol. LANs that use switches to join segments are called switched LANs or, in the case of Ethernet networks, switched Ethernet LANs.

Hub

A common connection point for devices in a network. Hubs are commonly used to connect segments of a LAN. A hub contains multiple ports. When a packet arrives at one port, it is copied to the other ports so that all segments of the LAN can see all packets.

Hub creates collision and broadcast domain, while Switch creates only broadcast domain and Router not create any broadcast and collision domain. router creates a routing table to break broadcast and collision domain.

The hub linking between computers and be face specific to the presence of a specific track or an order specified either switch that connects to all the tracks reverse hup Alroatir linking LAN wan pc networks connect and transfer across a given ip and within a particular network

Hub is used to connect computers to each other. the packet is broadcast in the network regardless of the final destination.

Switch is also used to connect computers to each others but the difference is it didn't broadcast packet received and send to the desired computer in the network.

Router is used to route data packets to other networks like LAN or WAN
