What is the command to rename a switch or router?

Write in the privilege/config mode of router or switch 

switch(config)#hostname (write the name you want to rename)

router(config)# hostname (write the name you want to rename)

In the privilege mode of router or switch 

router(config)#hostname space and write the name 

switch(config)#hostname space and write the name 

enter configration mode then issue this command:

>>hostname X

where X refer to the name if switch or router you want

switch(config)#hostname switch name

router(config)# hostname router name
