What are the fire safety tips that should be followed for someone who is living alone?

1. installation smoke detector in every room

2. shut down the gas cylinder when sleeping

3. close all connections and electrical appliances

4. close the windows of all rooms

  • Stay in the kitchen when you are frying, grilling, or broiling food. If you leave the kitchen for even a short period of time, turn off the stove.
  • Wear short, close-fitting or tightly rolled sleeves when cooking.
  • Do not cook if you are sleepy, have been drinking alcohol, or have taken medicine that makes you drowsy

one should contact fire brigade on the spot if he is unable to anguish the fire.

  • When Living alone just make sure you have a complete fire extinguisher at home,rooms,etc.and soft furnishings,Fire extinguisher like..WATER FIRE EXTINGUISHERS are good for putting out flames on carpets and soft furnishings.FOAM EXTINGUISHER are effective on woods and flammable liquids, petrol and spirits but not for kitchen or electrical fires.CO2 FIRE EXTINGUISHER,This is effective on flammable liquids and electrical fires, but not suitable for cooking fats or soft furnishings. 

    DRY POWDER fire extinguisher,This can be used on the widest range of fires in the home.  It is safe to use on textiles, wood, flammable liquids/gases and electrical fires.FIRE BLANKET,This is a handy item to have in cooking areas and can stop small pan fires from spreading.  They are mounted on the wall and easily accessible: using a fire blanket is the best and quickest way to extinguish a pan fire.

The following fire safety tips should be follwed for someone living alone:

(1) Have a monitored home smoke detector alarm installed: this will alert you in case of smoke or fire from any part of the apartment.

(2) Get to know your neighbours: neighbours can act as an extra set of eyes, and can assist your home secure or rescue in case of fire when you are not at home, by helping you to put out the fire or by calling emergency numbers.

(3) Always unplug any unuse electrical appliances: electrical appliances such as pressing-iron, water heater, electric-cooker must be unplugged from the wall socket after use.

(4) Flammable liquid/gas should not be stored in the room: flammable liquids such as Gasoline should not be stored within the room(s).

(5) Avoid overloading an extension socket: more than one plug should not be inserted in a socket.
