Climate change does not affect the Earth any more than usual because of the function of the climate. It is a natural balancing function of the Earth in order to correct the detrimental effects of human pollution and disturbance of the vital support systems of Earth to support all forms of life on Earth. When left undisturbed, the climate is responsible for supporting life and living organisms in all regions by reducing the effect of extreme temperature and food scarcity; however when disturbed, the climate becomes unpredictable and creates more extreme fluctuations in environmental parameters which manifest themselves as tornadoes, earthquakes, drought, tsunami and general human disaster.

Global climate change has already had observable effects on the environment. Glaciers have shrunk, ice on rivers and lakes is breaking up earlier, plant and animal ranges have shifted and trees are flowering sooner.

Effects that scientists had predicted in the past would result from global climate change are now occurring: loss of sea ice, accelerated sea level rise and longer, more intense heat waves.
