What is your take on Climate Change? By 2070 rising sea levels - will change coastlines drastically (NatGeo Week 44 Issue)? Weather wreaks havoc.

Climate Change affects all of us. It is not just up to scientists to highlight and fight against it - with rise in carbon emmissions some parts of the world suffer and so does the fauna and eco systems. Sadly the poorer countries are hardest hit by its effects. According to an extensive article in National Geographic Magazine Week44 Issue - by2070 Mumbai ranks2nd highest in coastline loss due to rising sea levels. The cost of the after effects of devastating weather patterns like hurricanes, cyclones etc is high. Not to mention loss of lives.

Ecological FootPrint Quiz  and Biodiesel

Measuring Your carbon footprint,

Just as new dieters often keep a fooddiary ,an excellent way to start reducing your emissions is by using carbon calculators.

Ecological   Footprint Quiz;

Agriculture byproducts12.5%, Transportation fuels -14%

,again US resident CO2 footprint-25.9tonnes

Here UK resident CO2 footprint-11.6tonnes

Africa resident CO2 footprint-0.9tonnes

US personal travel-34%

UK Personal Travel-29%

The following charts, basedon figures from best foot forward breakdown the carbon footprint of the average UK and US resident.

1)Technologies for reducing CO2 emissions from motor cars

Other  significant efficiency improvements have come from the use of lower weight structural materials ,improvements  in low  -air –resistance design  and the availability of direct injection diesel engines ,long used in heavy trucks for automobiles and light trucks.

Biofuels generated from crops can be employed to fuel motor vehicles thereby  avoiding fossil fuel use for instance ,ethanol has been extensively produced from sugarcane in Brazil and from maize in USA .

The Rough guide to climate change give me the points ;

In the USA  and mainland Europe ,however ,its produced commercially  from canola ,Soybean and other  inexpensive vegetable oils .This allows for a greater level of supply  but also raises question about the wider impacts of the burgeoning International market for oil crops .Huge areas of tropical rainforest  have already been cleared to make way for Soybean and palmoil cultivation ,with disastrous impacts on both biodiversity and the climate .Forthis reason ,Biodiesel has become something of a controversial  subject with environmentalist s divided over its potential benefits and costs.

Though food production increased in record level the prices corn increased in131%, Soybean Oil175%, coconut oil153% and palm oil137% between2005 and2008.These are the highest price increases in last30 years.The UN World food programme estimated that the recent food crisis has added another100 million people into hunger. The following events are milestone in food security .1) The World Food summit-19962) International Conference World security -20083) International Conference on Climate Change –2007 In1950 world total population was2.5 billion and in2000 it reached at6.5 billion now7 billion.It is expecting that by2050 world total population will reach to a peak of9 billion..So the rate of food production failed to meet with the rate of population growth. The expansion of housing, urbanisation , roads , airports etc each year decreased agricultural land. On the other hand , soil erosion . expansion of desert and water crisis reduced huge number of agricultural land. Unplanned urbanisation , housing and roads reduced a huge amount of agricultural land .Most of modern ploughing , fertilizers and pesticide are not sustainable for agriculture. These are causes for reduced land fertility. The effective and immediate measure is essential to mitigate the rise of food prices. Rise of food price is a global crisis so it requires immediate coordination among United Nations, International agencies, Governments of all countries, donors and civil society. WorldWide around852 million men, women and children are chronically hungry due to extreme poverty ( FAO – Food and agriculture organization ) . Famine and Hunger are both rooted in food insecurity . Some840 million people in the world don 't have enough food for their daily needs. The great majority of them799 million live in developing countries countries in Africa , South - East Asia and Latin America.

According to world bank , Fertilizer prices have risen150% in the past five years. This has had a major impact on food prices , as the cost of fertilizer contributes over a quarter of the overall cost of grain production in the US , which is responsible.

We know Biodiesel is climate/ Eco-  Friendly .Biodiesel made from sustainable grown crops .The term ‘’diesel ‘’originally described the engine type rather than the fuel and its inventor Rudolf Diesel ,used peanut oil to drive the prototype that won him top honors at the1900 worlds fair in Paris.So previous I mentioned Biodiesel is also becoming more widely available .However ,Such fuels  can yet only compete with fossil fuels if they  are strongly subsidized.

Thatswhy I choose Ricehusk product which needn’t cultivation , different lands and costs just residue of paddy!I like4R !

People are aware the fact. In fact, everybody wants to ignore it. In my point of view, people has to reduce the use of personal vehicle and either share their vehicle or use public transport. Also, waste of energy, drinking water and use of plastic bags also increase pollution since we require energy to either create or purify this things. It ultimate pollute environment with green gases. By reduction in the uses of these things we can brow some more years else we will meet this changes in near future.
