As an advertising agent, how much attention should I pay for printed media advertising in Jordan?

Traditional advertising isn't dead yet, and there is still a substantial audience for it.  Printed media advertising and other similar mediums have proven effective and profitable so I wouldn't ignore them just yet.

I agree with Colleen, printed media advertising is not over by any measure. I would advise you to get some data on the Jordanian market by independent research agencies and check customer acquisition costs in Jordan through both online and offline mediums and make your decision then.

 

The truth is there is no clear cut formula; depending on your demographics you want to reach, you will need to mix and match. It is not this or that, but most times a careful combination.

There are many factors to consider here.

 

1. Product life cycle : Companies should focus on acquiring innovators when the product is new to the market. Marketing to early adopters or late majority may not work.

 

2. Costs involved : In the current age, money is scarce resource and making the most of it is important.

 

3. Where are your high value customers located ? If your high value customers are using mobiles and the internet you may be able to reach them at a low cost. The job of a marketer is to follow their high value customers and not worry about any particular media.

 

4. Also identify if you have resources to do digital marketing inhouse or find a specialist who can help you with a digital marketing strategy.

Would suggest you to refer the industry impact report and try to find out the market share of each of the advertising medium. This will help you in planning and define your course of action accordingly.

My Take : Logic supported by Facts always work.

I don´t have much experience in Jordan Media Market and beside it I really never studied it deeply.

 

But in the past I collected some info about the  printed media advertising, like this:

If your targeted audience are old people ( who still uses newspapers & so on) so you should pay some attention to the printed media advertising, otherwise use the new methods of advertising.

I am not familiar with advertising industry from Jordan but I can tell you that printed media advertising are not so powerful unless you have a small audience and very targeted like doctors, lawyers or dentists ... its used only for an certain audience which you already interact with. Otherwise its a waste of time, money and ideas ... You can use digital ads, discounts for subscribe at your newsletter (and after send newsletters) or buy databases with emails addresses 

You shouldn't pay much attention for the printed media advertising, but you could gain good experiance from its simplicity to improve your skills
