Six Sigma Certification: What is the best certification of six sigma, white, yellow, green or black belt?

The simple answer is not so simple. Black belt is the highest base certification and allows you to pursue a master black belt, but each level of certificiation brings additional responsibilitiies. It makes no sense to become a black belt if you will never have such responsibilities, or they are not imminent. Of course if only padding your CV, go for it. However, be advised it requires quite a bit of knowledge and experience, in most cases.

Yellow belt gives you adequate knowwledge, although i think it is an uneccesary belt. Green belt is what most companies need to do projects, although a certifieid black belt brings more credibility to the thoroughness of any project.

I'm sure this is more than you expected, but I take these matters seriously, as six sigma is abused by many individuals.

of course black belt is the best certification , but you must do yellow then orange then green belt firstly 

or you at least must do orange , green , black belt , somebody make it like green then black or orange then black , 

what I am trying to say that every belt has its knowledge and its depth 

also black belt makes you have the opportunity to make master black belt which depends mainly on Six Sigma projects 

Also , there are another certification which it is a mix between six sigma and lean manufacturing which is the newest certification in this field 

If you want just an idea about the six sigma you need the yellow belt

but is you want to be aprofessional you will start with the green then the black the master black belt

The known belts in the pratice of Six Sigma are Green, Black and Master Black belt.

These are progressive certifications. One begins as a Green Belt wherein you own and execute a project. Once you are experienced in doing Green belt projects then you may be able to lead few Green Belts who work under your guidance and at the same time you also may do multiple projects on your own wherein you then may then get certified to being a Black Belt. A master black belt is the top most in this, a master balck belt is more of a mentor and leads the six sigma culture organisation wide.

Different level requires different levels of engagement in terms of time and effort (A Green Belt may spend25% of his time on projects, a Balck belt may spend50% of his time on projects and a Master Balck belts would usally spend almost90% time on improvement projects). Also there is a need to get higher proficiencies in the overall Knowledge at each level.

Yellow belts / White belts are generally terms used for the people who are working on a project under a Green belt and mostly are in direct contact of the process activity.

In my opinion, the best in terms of six sigma knowledge and skill is in this order: Black-Green-Yellow-White.  But the "best" depends on the requirement:

* Black belt is best for someone who intend to do improvement as the main job function, as it provides like all the skills necessary.  An organization can have a black belt to guide several teams.

* Green belt is best for someone who does improvement as part of the job scope, while still doing a different main role such as production/maintenance/finance.  It give sufficient knowledge to lead a team, but probably need a black belt holder for consultation.

* Yellow & white are probably best only for getting to know six sigma.  They are not really "official" belts.

* People also make higher levels than black belt like Master BB, SS Champion, SS Deployment Leader.  And also broader scope like Lean Six Sigma.  They would probably be best for expanding one's knowledge.

Six Sigma professionals exist at every level – each with a different role to play. While implementations and roles may vary, here is a basic guide to who does what.

At the project level, there are black belts, master black belts, green belts, yellow belts and white belts. These people conduct projects and implement improvements.

• Black Belt: Leads problem-solving projects. Trains and coaches project teams.

• Green Belt: Assists with data collection and analysis for Black Belt projects. Leads Green Belt projects or teams.

• Master Black Belt: Trains and coaches Black Belts and Green Belts. Functions more at the Six Sigma program level by developing key metrics and the strategic direction. Acts as an organization’s Six Sigma technologist and internal consultant.

• Yellow Belt: Participates as a project team member. Reviews process improvements that support the project.

• White Belt: Can work on local problem-solving teams that support overall projects, but may not be part of a Six Sigma project team. Understands basic Six Sigma concepts from an awareness perspective.

I would say Master Black Belt is the best certification.
