I believe Design Six Sigma, is about performing additional work up front to assure you fully understand the customer’s needs and expectations prior to design completion. As it's not clear, you are talking about Design for Six Sigma or Design Six Sigma, I will give you the glimpse of both.

1. Design Six Sigma: Its about six sigma process designing or deployment, whether is an existing or new project/process.

2. Design For Six Sigma DFSS: it's when you design a project and perform additional work up front to assure you fully understand the customer’s needs and expectations prior to design completion. It can also be termed as DMADV, DCCDI, and IDOV.  DFSS methodology you can achieve higher levels of quality for new products or processes.

And Lean Six Sigma: Removing “Waste” from a process. Its only applicable to the existing process. Lean Six Sigma always follow the DMAIC Process. It is based on common sense practices and is completed in five phases: Define, Measure, Analyse, Improve and Control.

Hope this help.
