Productivty in construction is measured interms of duration elapsed to complete a task.

For example the time taken to erect pipe sleepers or the time taken to weld joints.

Comparing the actual time it took to complete a task versus what was planned at the start of the project provides an indication of how effcient the workforce is.

There are several aspects to look at when trying to increase productivity rates including but not limited to:

1. Avalability of tools and equipments

2. Availability of raw materials

3. Mobility (manpower, tools, equipments, etc)

Having said that, and focusing specifically on increasing workforce productivity, a few ways to achieve that include:

1. On and off the job training.

2. financial motivation ( perks, bonuses, etc.)

3. setting clear targets and end goals so that the work force feel the progress as they carry out the work.
