Can an employer treat an employee differently based on their accent or an accent?

I think if it materially affects your job duties that have to be carried out using a particular language (say English). Generally, it is not acceptable to discriminate against a colleague or subordinate based on origin, language and so on. Different labour acts for different countries sets out the proper conduct within the workplace. All of which stem out of the ILO regulations.
