If I could influence the industry I work in, I'd make pay per performance - PPP - the basic yardstick. Nationality, being local or expatriate..............would be meaningless for reward........and so would be the faith..........However, I'd certainly encourage "positive discrimination" for women when it comes to reward as women are the MOST exploited human beings in our culture!

Industry? that's not a firm or corporation, which contains hundreds of other firms, however the short answer, short-term competitive advantage, with competitiveness of creativity and improving, you see, if i said only competitive advantage, then you'd realize that long term competitive advantage may not help improve the firm, nor affect the industry, but gaining short term competitive advantage is way for other firms to compete on improving and trying to match, which affect the industry beyond comprehension, for example, however, there is another way as well, using Blue Ocean Strategy, which going into uncharted market others would follow later.
