Question in Interview : If you were asked to sell,promote a product manufactured with defects, will you do? if not it will cost you your job

Reputation is more important than dollars.So the ONLY way to sell these products, is to let the buyer know the truth, then he decides if he buys or not!

 

There are buyers interested for every product out there,even for defected ones, you just have to find them!

Business is based on Ethics and Benefits for both sides.

if I sell or promote this defected product, the customer when discover that it is defected he will never buy from me again, and he may inform his friends and relatives that I am a cheater, and so i will loose many customers and my good soundness .

First of all a product includes its quality, its specifications, its features, its benefits, its packaging, its brand name, its price, its availability, its promotion, its after sale service. If a product has certain defect we will try to offset it with positive features of the product .  Customer when decides to purchase a product he evaluates all these elements  and set a certain value of that product in his mind. If he is getting excellent packaging, wonderful after sale service and good price then we will be able to sell it even though it has defects which should be mentioned while making presentation. Customer may offset this defect with other positive elements of the product.

Professional businesses prefer long-term customer relationship and it comes gradually when your customer trusts you.................. SO it is better to tell your customers about the possible defects of the product before selling it........ 

because there is a customer for every product.............. even if it is defected............ 

 

REMEMBER .......... Customers are also the assets of sales person .............. DON'T LOOSE YOUR LOYAL CUSTOMER AT THE COST OF YOUR JOB................... BECAUSE YOU WILL EVENTUALLY FIND A NEW JOB .......................... 

 

BUT IF YOU LOOSE YOUR LOYAL CUSTOMERS ..................... YOU WILL NEVER SUCCEED IN ANY COMPANY.........

I'd end the interview at once. I do not want to work for such a company. Just the same that they are interviewing me, I'm interviewing them as well, and there is always a Sales job opening wherever you go.

 

The last thing I want is my name on the CNN world wide painted with a defect product, with governments and civic organizations chasing me for investigations. If you have been in the field long enough, you'd know that this is not a professional or ethical question in any shape or form.

Yes, I will sale the defective products in a discounted price after telling/clear the defect to the customer.

You can sell it as a second’s or outlet product which is less in price and quality compared with Main. And in a different location.  You can offer the best to the main stream .This is globally happening. No harm for the credibility as long as you have disclosed the status and if consumer is ready to purchase. In this case ,   your number of sales will increase and reduce the waste and write-offs.

I think it will not be appropraite to conceal any defect from the customers. However, appropraite discount can be given, substitute options can be given or certain class of market should be targeted, for whom that defect is not of much concern.
