Normally in plumbing system P trap is most common trap. Which is provided in waste line prior to enter the sewage network and for the equipment drain like HVAC,Bidet ,shower etc. S trap can be find in WC & this kind of selection depends on the interior or architect choice. Function for the both is same ,used to trap the foul smell only.

P-traps are preffered for drainage line. The main purpose of this is to create a water pocket that will stop any foul smell from entering the building.

S-traps are only concerned with the WC's type being used, after approval from Architects. Depedning on if the drainage line is connected through floor or through wall.

P traps are best why these hepls the water closet flow of waste water to move smoothly and gently avoid ing so many corner's

The 'P' trap - normally these have a screw joint half way along so that:

  • For installation, the outlet can be moved through about 270° in the horizontal plane so that it will mate with a horizontal waste pipe coming in from an angle.
  • After installation, the trap can be easily removed for clearing blockages etc without disturbing the rest of the pipe run.

One disadvantage of the 'P' trap is that it requires a fair amount of room around the waste outlet.

We usually use p-traps,its also more easy in troubleshoting or clogging

i would recommend p trap as  they are free for water to flow through it ,in case some one flushes tissue it is gonna be difficult flushing it out in s trap

Either trap is fine. The only difference is what sort of effect the architect or engineer would prefer. A pipe that comes out of a wall or one that come out from the floor.
