Shorthand is an abbreviated symbolic writing method that increases speed and brevity of writing as compared to a normal method of writing a language. Shorthand come from the Greek Stenos (narrow) and Graphie (writing), Greek brachys (short), from Greek tachys (swift, speedy). Sir Issac Pitman invented the shorthand.

Secretaries need to study Shorthand mainly to write the English words speedy in narrow strokes as the words pronounced and dictated by their bosses to save time in normal writing. It is also used by Journalists for the same purpose.

Shorthand was first introduced by Issac Pitman in Eighteen Hundreds and since then has been the most easiest way to learn shorthand.

Shorthand is very useful for taking down notes during a class or a presentation. Especially at work a Secretary cannot always remember everything that her Manager may request her to do so its very helpful if she knows shorthand she can quickly jott down the points and main items so she can remember and retain that information for further action if and as necessary.

The founder of shorthand is Sir Isac Pitman from England. We can save time when our boss is dictating some memos, letters or other notes if we write the same in shorthand. By the time Boss is dictating, the writing also can be finished. Boss does not require to wait until the secretary finishes writing.

Shorthand helps in fast writing.

Shorthand was first invented by Sir Isac Pitman in England. This skill is used to write the fast dictation in your own words e.g. shorthand and then transcribe it easily. It has certain principles of writing light, dark lines, half lines, double lines and placing them above the line, one the line and/or through the line. In each placing it has a different meaning. However, this skill is sharpened only if ones english language skill is excellent. The more you know correct and good english the better you can be in learning and practicing shorthand writing.
