Do you consider your 'principles' when applying for jobs or is money and position your only concern, and why?

For instance, I would much rather work for an educational institution than an oil and gas company, even though they pay less. What's your view?

In such decision making, there is a thought process that we need to consider, I understand that for most of us, selling our principles is not an option, but let's argue that someone would consider taking the extra money and the higher position at all costs, even if they are against his/her principles.
What would that person really gain? is it more or less than what (s)he will lose? on economical terms in the long term, will this person still gain out of selling his/her principles (Return on Investment)? Finally, will (s)he regret the action in the future (Opportunity Cost)? My belief is that the principles you have had are one of the contributors to what you are, and where you have reached.
Having a potential employer asking you to become another person, and with different set of ethics and values would mean that you need to re-build and reshape yourself, I think this 'whole' you are creating and the guilt you will have cannot be compensated by all the money you could get.
This is my belief, please let me know what you think?

Definitely will with principles, thats because I believe once you start to do what you like then you got to surely succeed in what you are doing.
There is a lot of passion involved which will lead to better pay eventually.
But most importantly you have to know what you like best.
