Yes, we can do that;

1.     Select the column or columns that you want to change.

2.     On the Home tab, in the Cells group, click Format.

3.     Under Cell Size, click Column Width.

 

4.     In the Column width box, type the value that you want.

Columns - go between "A" and "B" and double click

Rows -  go between "1" and "2" and double click

You can re-size up to your demand. 

Yes it is so easy to do, best way is on side rows number indicator border and column identifier hover mouse until get pointer change to two parallel lines, then hold left click and drag to width or desired row height. 

 

Also same method of hover over and can double click column which will resize to fit widest text. 

 

Or highlight rows or columns right click i think, then drop down box appears, select from those options available.
