What is the main role for bio-medical engineers in hospital or company?

In a hospital: to maintain current equipment, perform preventive and corrective maintenance and provide feedback to the hospital administration about the current status of functioning of equipment. They are also responsible for advising the hospital and making decisions on updating equipment and providing better solutions.

In a company, however, the role depends on the work the company does and the responsibilities assigned to the engineer. This can include anything from design, manufacturing and assembly of biomedical equipment, to performing installations, or just performing corrective and/or preventive maintenance on already distributed equipment, or even sales and marketing of the company's devices.

Preparing quotations/ tenders. Maintaining records; for e.g. equipment history. Setting standards & ensuring their compliance. Maintaining the equipment to the best of its performance by organizing a planned maintenance program for all equipment’s and attending to emergency breakdowns and repairs. Carry out inspection & repairs of the equipment/machine at company site or at the hospital site. Arranging for training programs for personnel in clinical engineering department as well as the end users. Advising & providing expertise to the medical staff & administration. Maintaining equipment inventory for all existing & incoming equipments. Involvement in the activities of the hospital’s safety committee & checking safety hazards. Monitoring contract services viz. A.M.C. and C.M.C. Keeping record of the Spares/consumable items.

To provide efficiency and safety equipment for patient use.

He or she is the linkage between the mdeicine and electronic engineering, as he studied and understood the electronics principles with medical background to help the doctors and demonstrate some skills and do trainings for them on the current and new machines as a products specialist, or do the needed service for the malfunctioned device when its stopped working as aservice engineer.

A Biomedical Engineer is a link between the medical field of doctors and an electronics field of engineers. They acquire knowledge in both areas and provide solutions for the medical practitioners by applying Engineering principles and technologies.

They are responsible for the maintenance, periodic servicing and technical support in a hospital environment and keeping a record of all activities in order to ensure patient safety and good working condition of the equipment's.

Biomedical Engineers perform the function of maintenance and service of equipment. They handle all the processes from purchase of an equipment till its testing stage .

The main role is to service all biomedical devices to increase the efficiency for these devices 

In brief the main role is to use and optimize available engineering solutions in a safe and economic way for the sake of better performance of hospitals, and better service to patients and also a better envirenoment for medical staff; This is a main title, there are a lot of subtitles accoding to the situation and case and strategic requirements and also the position if it is in a hospital or a company and the nature of this hospital and company

Biomedical engineers are employed in the industry, in hospitals, in research facilities of educational and medical institutions, in teaching, and in government regulatory agencies. They often serve a coordinating or interfacing function, using their background in both engineering and medical fields. In industry, they may create designs where an in-depth understanding of living systems and of technology is essential

Now a days Biomedical Engineer is as Important as docter in the Hospitals.

Hospitals and Companies both have different roles and responsibilties for biomedical engineer in hospital biomedical engineer work on management and non technical issues related to equipment and then some technical issues of c class equipment which mostly done by technisian too. Mostly in hospital deals with vernders call company engineer to service the equipent and repair because  every company provide service to the hospitals.Biomedical engineer basicall work on a term called Equipment management  in hospital

Main roles of biomedical engineers are to supervise the technical staff for the servicing of biomedical equipments and to enquire freqently in case of replacement of faulty parts and machines in place of new ones in order to provide best services to the organization following work standards.
