Most of the People Buy Products for their daily needs. but in special occasions people buy brands. when we take the whole picture, I can say it in a simplest sentence " Its depending on the product and Its usage"
very nice question, it's a vice versa matter and its depend on needs also , in marketing we have segments to buy our product ( brands) good brand mean good product .firstly you need to have a quality product to build your brand name and am100% sure that people always look for brand name firstly when they think to buy product.
Most people buy brands, it becomes an instinct when a person is doing some shopping and will most of the time be attracted to the brand he or she has in mind. Also, all products come from a brand initially, it just matters what brand the consumer chooses when looking for a particular product. Especially if there is a new product ( not existing in the market), crated, in this case, the consumer will choose the product from the specific brand, which means that the consumer will buy the brand since it's the only one making the new product.
