I think it really depends on two aspects, the first aspect is the targeted audience & the other one is the targeted item in the ad. Some2D animated ads are great but most of the time now3D ads are more attractive.
Ofcourse3D! Graphics used on TV commercials and also for TV channels are mostly3D no doubt.
