Here is a summary of the training requirements from section6.2.2 Competence, awareness and training.

  • 1.Define the knowledge and skill needed for each employee to conduct their job.
  • 2. Deliver training or other learning activities to develop the required knowledge and skill.
  • 3. Provide a way to prove whether the training was effective (test for understanding)
  • 4. Ensure employee awareness of how their activities contribute to the quality objectives. They should understand the relevance and importance of their role. (Do they know what a QMS is?)
  • 5.Keep training records and records of employee education, skills and experience.

Once an organization determines how to organize a training program to meet these requirements, they must find a way to keep track of the training schedules, evaluation activities and training records for every employee. Regardless of the size of the organization, most find these administrative demands very time consuming and difficult to maintain so the information is easily available during audits.

Mr. Vinod has the best answer and I agree with it.

I agree with mr. Jetley, thank you. My experience with ISO9001 is that you can make your own rules, that is your specific part of the ISO, but one way or the other the training requirements are clear and can be controlled and sanctioned if necessary. That's where HR steps in, keep track of everything also for evaluations etc.

In a nutshell, Human Resource training and development should be of such nature that it should oil the human resources machinery making it something that takes the organization forward. If Human Resource training and development is not professional or appropriate; the result is a bureaucratic setup that is a hindrance to everyone in the organization. Rather than get mired in mindless formalities; HR should facilitate the growth of the organization, for all of which Human Resource training and development is the foundation.Human Resource

training and development is the imparting of necessary knowledge and skills to a human resource professional in the organization. This is necessary for a number of reasons. HR professionals are very important for the organization. They need continuous upgrade of their skills and attitudes. Training them to bring them on par with the organization's goals and in tune with the industry trends is necessary, since well-equipped HR professionals are the means to ensuring optimal performance from the organization's employees.

As with many parts of the ISO9001 quality standard, the training requirements were designed to help improve the organization’s quality. The standard required employees to be trained with the knowledge and skill necessary to do their jobs with quality. But the added requirement is to verify that the training provided was effective.

  • Define the knowledge and skill needed for each employee to conduct their job.
  • Deliver training or other learning activities to develop the required knowledge and skill.
  • Provide a way to prove whether the training was effective (test for understanding)
  • Ensure employee awareness of how their activities contribute to the quality objectives. They should understand the relevance and importance of their role. (Do they know what a QMS is?)
  • Keep training records and records of employee education, skills and experience.

Once an organization determines how to organize a training program to meet these requirements, they must find a way to keep track of the training schedules, evaluation activities and training records for every employee. Regardless of the size of the organization, most find these administrative demands very time consuming and difficult to maintain so the information is easily available during audits.
