ANOVA is more of process based in Six Sigma, since its used in line with the DMAIC framework. In Psychology (my background), it is a method of statistics used to analyze differences in behavior in sample populations. In Six Sigma, it's used in to find out if there are differences in the performances of different groups, and, ultimately to find out if these differences count, or are important enough that a significant change or adjustment should be made.
