In generally yes, but it also depend to the position or duty which the employees has to do. Which means, it will be difficult to explain to an plummer that he cant't show his tattoo. In the same time if we talk about some banker or other similar job is this without any question.

There should be a dress code for customer facing professionals like Bank employees, Sales representatives, etc. The way they dress gives an impression of the company. As Mr. Darko Genc mentioned not everyone can be enforced for dress code and not having tattoos..

Though embedding tattoos are of personal matters , it is recommended not to wear tattoos in visible parts, because a tattoo picture or design may be interpreted in different people's mind in different ways ,some may like it some people may not. It is also quite natural that when a person meet this employer,  his first attention goes to the tattoo design , before the communication has  started itself ,an impression is made in his mind ,sometimes  good or sometimes  bad.

This question is very personal. Actually employees will not have tattoos like Mickey Roone or Denis Rodman. So as long as the tattoo is not abusive or racist the employee should have the freedom to have a tattoo. We are talking about companies and not monasteries or schools.

I am agree with mr Darko that its depend to the duty that where you perform, for example if  a person work in pub, or bar lounge or disco and showing their tatoo, i think is fine or if a person work in office or in the bank then its not nice to show their tatoo

cheers fida aa

There is internal policy for any organization mention the duties and the rights for employees , in the islamic and arab countries forbidden the employees to wear or act indecent behavior and your case the tattoos one of them it is not in our culture or habit we have taken this from western countries however if the tattoos hidden not visible i think the employers do not know and do not mind .
