- To point out every thing they do as a big achievement.

- To take out the management advises as a reply to their request as an insult.

- Using negative words and ego in the way that they represent their request for a promotion (ex: this task wouldn't have finished without my great contribution), can be replaced with (I know I've added value to the task "x" when I advised "y" and worked with "z" to move the process forward, and I will continue to do so).

- Not contributing in the advancement of the company before asking for a promotion.
