A hard hand over its mean remove  the channel  transmitted (source channel) (channel A) to can be determine or establish channel to can through single it as hold call through channel but in (destination channel) (channel B) the make a hold by core system to hope the call to connected again  and usually disconnected the call .

A soft hand over  its mean keep  the channel  transmitted (source channel) to can be connected in same time the core network (BS) can be find channel to relocated the single through him without any problem depend by the frequency single at location .   conclusion :- hand over is technical system to make call connected every where .

Hand over is when UE moves from one cell to another cell.

Hard hand over when move from cell to cell but the hand over is going through core not through RNC/BSC.

soft hand over is when UE moves from one cell to another cell not through core.

e.g. from cell to cell within the same NodeB or site, or from cell to cell within two RNCs but through Iur link not through core.

The meaning of the term handover is to change something. And in communications we have3 types of handovers. Hard HO , Soft HO & Softer HO.

Basically, Hard handover is when the user equipment changes its frequency. When a user equipment moves from a cell to a different cell in a GSM network for example he changes the operating freq. so thats hard HO.

Soft handover is when the user equipment is moving between two serving eNodeBs (i.e different cells)  but with the same frequency (ex.3G networks),which means that he should maintain at least one connection to the UTRAN. That's why there is no soft HO in GSM networks.

Softer handover is when the user equipment is moving between two sectors from the same serving eNodeB (i.e same cell).

Note: In3G networks sometimes you have to fall back to a2G network as part of a handover process for many reasons (for example, you were on a3G site and handovered to a2G site that has no3G coverage) in that case this will be considered as a hard handover as there will be changing in frequencies.

Hand Over to continue the call from one cell to another cell.

Hard Hand over means Break Before Make.

Soft and Softer Hand Over means Make before Break

Hand over is a process in which data sesion is transferred from one channel to adjacent channel.

When an inter cell hand over arisses it is called hard hand over

when an intra cell hand over arisses it is called soft hand over

when a base station receives a signal from two adjacent cell than it is called softer hand over

Handover is the phenomenon in which your call transfer without disconnecting.

Hard Handover is when UE changes its channel

Soft handover is moving in one cell to another within the channel

softer handover is transferring to one sector to  other within same NodeB

Handover is the process of moving from one cell to another during a call due to bad measurement of the old cell ( quality or power ).

Hard Handover MS releases connection with old cell before connecting to the new cell.

Soft Handover MS connects to 2or 3 cells at the same time and connects only to one after certain condition happens ( handover Parameter)

Softer Handover happens between sector cells

Hand over is when UE moves from one cell to another cell.

When mobile ( in Call) switches to a new sector/cell which is on the same frequency then it is called a soft handover. If the "new" sector is also from the same BTS then it is called a softer handover.

Hard HO: Link brakes before a ne connection is made . Here call drops

SOft Handover: When new link is available , and HO is possible , so no call drop.

Softer HO : When HO happens from one sector to Another sector on the same site. NO call drops here .

SOFT HANDOVER:

This simply describe the concept of Make Before Break.

HARD HANDOVER:

This simply describe the concept of Break Before Make.

handover is a process in telecommunications and mobile communications in which a connected cellular call or a data session is transferred from one cell site (base station) to another without disconnecting the session. ... It allows users to create data sessions or connect phone calls on the move.Hard HandoverHard handover means that all the old radio links in the User Equipment are removed before the new radio links are established. Hard handover can be seamless or non-seamless. ... Normally soft handover can be used when cells operated on the same frequency are changed. Softer handover.
