Ma'am Excellent question..I agree with you..I add more that is good teacher is one who change your life when u got inspired by him.
Yes, it is the inspiration which is the most important factor for motivation
Merely telling, explaining and demonstrating does not fulfill the requirements of teaching, unless and until these are adorned by inspiration.
The main objective of teaching is to make your student satisfied. I believe that satisfaction of the learner is inspiration.
Here comes the second aspect of this issue; that's the absorbing capability of the learner's mind. Some learners need only to tell, others need explanation and yet others need demonstration as well.
So every teacher is great who can satisfy his learners completely, no matter at what level the goal is achieved.
In my opinion a perfect teacher would have all the above mentioned qualities. However, academicians would have the final say.

indeed,and that is the quality of a good leader ,being able to inspire and influence are qualities of a leader.
The real functions of a teacher narrates altogether. Sir Julian Huxley explained the functions of a teacher in One of his well known essays more or less in a similar manner, if my memory is correct. Inspiring is the Greatest part of all, that is what really the function of a teacher.
Huxley was well known for his presentation of science in books and articles, and on radio and television.
