Why now a days substations are getting equipped with IEC61850 smart relays and E-SCADA?

IEC61850 Protocol is user friendly and secure after 61850 edition-2 came.. It has Goose feature which has fast response time and reduces wiring in substation. The SCL language provides a vendor independent means to describe IED functions and makes it inter operable. Its has Network redundancy features like PRP, HSRP which makes network more reliable.

IEC61850 is called as a substation protocol for monitoring , control and data acquistion: reduce human error, accurate status.

Because smart relays and E-scada ensures the minimum human intervention with maximize accuracy in function . This also enables the measurement in installations which may not be so safe for human.
