Job role of interest gives self motivation and in turn keeps the employee in positive frame of mind. Align the job role in line with individuals potential. Identify individuals potential and ignite it as that would lead to their success. Create more opportunities for them to learn and develop which they would carry along and cherish for ever.

Keeping a team motivated in competitive environment involves all the following elements:

  • Make sure the team has clear, achievable goals and knows the linkage between their role and each goal.
  • Look for opportunities to celebrate success and hard work.
  • Create some friendly competition. Teams love to compete for bragging rights or small rewards.
  • Lead by example. Expect the team to follow your lead. Keep them informed of impending change and discuss shifting priorities openly.
  • Listen actively. If you're not getting the results you're looking for, ask questions and listen to what the team is saying. Everyone loves success, but not everyone wants to be led the same way. Listening to team needs can help you understand how to work with the team in order to reveal success.

Be prepared. You motivate them by providing them information and scenarios being in a competitive environment. You must equip them not only with knowledge but your expertise for them to follow. Set an example and indulge themselves by involving them with problem-solving and training. That's best way to win a battle.

Success does not necessarily come from a breakthrough innovation but from flawless execution. A great strategy alone won't win a game or a battle; the win comes from basic blocking and tackling, as they say.
