Writing an excellant resume is really not as difficult as it appears.

1. There exists several formats for a resume.  Look examples of each one.

2.  Ask yourself:  Have I been in my profession for at least5 years?  If yes, use the chronological form.  If no, use the skill set form.

3.  The first draft, don't worry about organization.  Concern yourself with writing down important items.

4. Never ignore the value of volunteer work.  Employers value this entry.

5. The education section should go beyond schools attended, remember certificates and training courses are important.

6. Use only standard fonts and sizes, no colored ink.

7.  Limit yourself to2 pages only.  Remember the reader isn't interested in long winded material.

8. Your first item should be about you and your contact methods.  A small photo is optional, but very positive.

9.  Leave out salary details.

10.  Be positive at all times, never underestimate yourself.

11.  Cover letters are an introduction method, but the current trend is away from them.

12.  Always indicate your availability and relocation information.

13.  Watch your grammar and spelling at all times.

Book writing and CV writing are too much different things. However, David has provided a beautiful base for it, so I'll not go for a step by step description.

Generally we should be aware of the fact that CV is not a story telling, so it must be precise and effective. It should be realistic and informative about the skills you have in accordance with the requirements of the job you are applying for.

It's good to note down hints you want to include in your CV, because some times we miss an important point. Then arrange these points in a sequence that can best express your personality as a suitable candidate for that post.

Don't forget to read and re-read your CV to avoid any possible mistake.
