This is a deep question and needs a detailed scholarly answer which is not possible here. However, the impact of English hegemony is of multi facet, of which education is only one.

Again the education is affected by this linguistic hegemony in several ways;

1. Shifting of higher education in English almost all over the world.

2. Shut the doors of higher education in most of the fields on non-English speakers.

3. Evolving of a system which practically secludes the scholars which don't know English.

4. Less opportunities for the researchers working in other languages.

AND THE MOST IMPORTANT ONE

5. Non-English speakers use99.9% of their energies just in learning English. So, how can they compete with ENGLISH with rest of the energy - only .1%?

If I were to take a very simplistic view of the question I would have to answer that the effect of English hegemony on education would be minimal and would be restricted purely to those subjects which are English in their origin - English Language, English Literature. Other than that and I am playing Devil's Advocate here, education is education and if I am giving someone a lesson based on facts, does it matter what language I conduct the lesson in? Mount Everest would still be the highest mountain in the world whether I described it in Chinese, English or any other language!

I think it is important to recognise that there is a difference between hegemony and indoctrination. Are we in effect talking about the use of the English language or English Ideology?
