Considering that they are varied and complex,what is your best approach to tackle them?
I happened to talk to the native teachers about the use of prepositions. None was found confident about them. It means even the native speakers get stuck sometimes with the use of prepositions.
However, a better approach would be to teach the pupils basic three of them in connection with time and place. like at, in , on . If be possible use visuals to show place and time. Moreover, a good many number of prepositions are used with nouns, adjective and verbs used as set phrases. They need to be memorized. eg. agree with, agree on etc.

there is no a method , they should just memorize them and their uses
