RGB Color is the most versatile and widely used of all the Photoshop modes. It’s the mode in which digital cameras save your photos; the only mode in which all the Photoshop tool options and flters are accessible; and the mode of choice for export to the Web, mobile devices, video, multimedia programs, and most inkjet printers.

Monitor (or cathode TV) works with RGB mode which is based on RED (R), GREEN (G) and BLUE (B) pixel intensity,  valued from0 to255 each. Combination of those three values / intensities, gives us specific pixel color.

For the monitor usually we use RGB colour mood. CMYK we use only where we think about hard copy like printing etc...
