What is exact meaning of CT saturation? How/why it saturates? What its effect .Can we bring CT in its normal state after saturation,if yes then how?

CT is current transformer and any transformer gets saturated if we apply higher voltage than it is designed for. and on saturation it gets heated up and insulations get damaged and hence you need rewinding if want to use the same again.
